| Cloaking | Showing one thing to a search engine and another to the average person. Generally considered to be search engine spamming. |
| CMS | Content Management System. A CMS has tools that allow one to build and maintain a website using it's online tools. Can be problematic when implimenting SEO processes. |
| Comment Spam | The posting of useless comments on others' blogs for the purpose of dropping a link. This can be done either manually or in an automated fashion. |
| Comment Tag | HTML code designed to allow other designers or viewers to better understand the code of any given web page. Has no SEO value. |
| Communities | Online networks that exist around shared interests or shared content. |
| Copy | The words a person can read on a web page via a web browser. |
| Content Communities | Communities which organise around and share particular kinds of content. Popular content communities exist around photos (Flickr), bookmarked links (del.icio.us), news (Digg) and videos (YouTube). |
| Copyediting | Making edits to existing text or copy. |
| Copywriting | Writing text or copy for advertising or marketing purposes. |
| CPA | Cost Per Action or Cost Per Acquisition |
| CPC | Cost Per Click |
| CPM | Cost Per Thousand |
| CSS | Cascading Style Sheet |
| CTR | Click Through Rate |
